Four Colours (2006) The title is the key to understanding this composition,
which developed out of four sound colours, or four scales. Sound carpet-like
resting points interchange with flowing, pattern-like figures, thus
forming the dramaturgy of the work. While the tonal colorations spaciously
sweep through the first part, at central points - as in the finale -
they abut and interact directly. Polyrhythm defines the interaction
of the two instruments, which at the end of this single-movement-work
engage in a free dialogue of interspersed forms; a quiet ending, that
appears to want to bolster the energy of the finale. Four Colours was
composed for Tatjana Kukoc and Tilman Hübner.
